Set of two large antique corkscrews made of gnarled wood, with natural vine handle and metal worm. A rustic and decorative presence, directly linked to the world of wine cellars and tableware.

Description

Set composed of two large corkscrews, made around branches or vine stocks with organic shapes. The wood shows a very marked relief: knots, visible grains, natural hollows, areas polished by use and contrasts of shade ranging from light brown to greyish brown.

Each piece retains its raw and sculptural character, with a wide grip and an irregular silhouette typical of vine wood. The metal parts, visible in the photographs, include the worms and fastening elements, with an old patina consistent with use.

Context

Corkscrews made of natural wood or vine wood are part of a tradition of utilitarian objects related to wine service, often sought after for their expressive material and their old cellar appearance.
