Description

Lot composed of several antique 12-gauge shotgun shells, presented with their original packaging. Notably, there is a large gray box from Manufacture Générale de Munitions (100 centerfire shotgun shells, 10mm head, closed primer for T powder, reference 34), as well as a red box from Cartoucherie Française, an accessory for "Gabel" wads (12-gauge). The visible shells are red, with brass-colored metal heads. These items are typical of mid-20th century hunting cartridges, used for manual reloading.

The top box features a vintage illustrated graphic with a cartridge on a yellow background, bearing the inscription "Manufacture Générale de Munitions." The bottom box displays detailed information about reloading accessories in French and specifies the manufacturer's Paris address. The set is presented in a faux leather cardboard box, typical of shooting accessory packaging from that period.

Several empty shotgun shells are visible in the open box, featuring a matte red finish with a golden metal ring. The general condition of the shells shows wear consistent with their age, with some traces of oxidation on certain heads. The original boxes show signs of time: scuffed corners, partially erased inscriptions, and a uniform patina on the cardboard.

The legible inscriptions on the packaging provide documentary value, particularly for identifying historical French manufacturers in the cartridge field. No individual markings are visible on the shells themselves from the presented side.

This lot illustrates the diversity of 20th-century hunting supplies, for decorative or educational use, and attests to the packaging and reloading methods in use during that period. The vibrant colors and original graphic design give the set an authentic vintage appeal.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Visible wear on the boxes (corners, labels, handling marks) and usage patina on the shells. See photos for precise condition of visible sides.

Did you know? Centerfire cartridges, like those from Manufacture Générale de Munitions, largely replaced pinfire models in late 19th century France, offering better reliability and increased safety for manual reloading. Accessory boxes like those from Cartoucherie Française were commonly used by hunters to prepare their own ammunition before the widespread use of modern preloaded cartridges.
