Description

This lot features a varied collection of French stamps, primarily from the second half of the 20th century. On the visible side, we observe a selection of stamps illustrating historical figures, writers, monuments, as well as animals and thematic motifs. The dominant colors range from blue, violet, green, red, brown to grey, with each stamp displaying a crisp impression and a diversity of aesthetics typical of French philately from this period.

Several stamps honor major personalities: Baudelaire, André Gide, Sainte-Beuve, Rimbaud, Verlaine, and General Marceau, each accompanied by portraits or artistic representations. We also note the presence of iconic monuments, such as the Abbey of Caen, reproduced in series on several copies, as well as bridges and infrastructure (Tancarville bridge, Garabit viaduct, Aérotrain).

Some stamps feature animal themes, such as a pink flamingo or a deer, and nature-related motifs. Others, with a more commemorative purpose, display regional coats of arms, symbols of Europe (Europa stamp), or celebrate notable technical and cultural events. The typographic fonts, layouts, and "République Française" signatures are typical of official postal production of the era.

The lot includes canceled stamps and others that are visibly new (with no visible cancellation mark on the front). The margins, perforations, and graphic details are clearly visible on the majority of the items. Some stamps are grouped by theme or series, while others are isolated to highlight their illustration or subject.

The set is presented on a black sheet with horizontal strips, allowing for good visibility of the motifs and protection of the stamps. No handwritten text or annotations are visible on the photographed side. The subjects represented cover a wide range of interests: literature, history, architecture, nature, technology, and national symbolism.

Condition

Used items sold as is. The overall condition appears good to very good according to the photo, with well-preserved colors and clean perforations, but slight traces of use or handling may remain.
