AFW - Antique France Worldwide

This lot brings together a set of used French stamps, presented on an album page with transparent strips. At the top, there are several "Fête du Timbre" stamps valued at €0.60 and €0.80, with abstract designs in orange, red, and pink hues, featuring clear inscriptions and a visible cancellation on each item.

In the center of the page, a group of stamps illustrating urban landscapes and remarkable sites is well represented. Notably, several "FRANCE" stamps highlight the city of Mâcon (the mention "Mâcon 2015" is legible on one of the stamps), with a visual of quays, buildings, and reflections on the Saône, in blue and grey tones. These stamps also feature cancellations on the upper part.

At the bottom, there is a series of predominantly brown, blue, and ochre stamps, illustrating a historical figure in period attire with the mention "MARQUISE DE POMPADOUR 1721-1764". These stamps are also cancelled and have a face value of €0.90. The details of the design highlight the finesse of the engraving and colors, typical of French issues dedicated to historical figures.

All the stamps in the lot have regular perforations on the edges and the cancellations are clearly visible, indicating actual postal use. The presentation on an album sheet, with transparent strips, allows for a clear view of each stamp and appreciation of its graphic and chromatic details. Some handwritten annotations on paper accompany certain groups, probably for internal organization or sorting reference.

This varied lot offers a panorama of classic themes in French philately: postal celebrations, urban landscapes, and historical figures. The illustrations are clear, the colors well preserved, and the cancellations typical of circulating postal stamps.

Condition: Used item, sold as is. The stamps show cancellation marks and signs of use corresponding to normal postal circulation. Presented on an album sheet, some signs of wear on the edges of the paper support.

Did you know? The "Fête du Timbre" issues are organized annually by La Poste française to promote philately. The stamp bearing the effigy of the Marquise de Pompadour pays homage to Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, a major figure of the 18th century, patron of the arts, and mistress of King Louis XV.
