Lot of cancelled France stamps French Republic philatelic theme
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot consists of several French postage stamps, visible in the photo, all inserted into a presentation sleeve with horizontal strips. These are exclusively stamps from the French Republic, mostly canceled, covering various historical and cultural themes. Illustrated subjects include famous personalities (Claude Debussy, Red Cross figures), significant events (launch of the first French satellite into orbit, Polish immigration 1921-1925), as well as various artistic, technical, and architectural scenes.
The chromatic palette of the stamps is very diverse: blue, red, purple, green, and brown tones are observed. Several stamps feature detailed illustrations of monuments (Carcassonne, cathedral, official buildings), old vehicles (bus, postal carriage), ships, and satellites. Some stamps highlight symbolic motifs such as Olympic flames, red crosses, or butterflies, underscoring the rich thematic diversity of this collection.
Several face values are clearly legible, such as 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.45, 0.60, 1.25, 10F, 15, 5F, 70c, and others, thus covering different periods of French postal issuance. Some stamps display precise commemorative inscriptions, such as "First French satellite launched into orbit November 26, 1965," or "135th anniversary of the postage stamp in France."
The visible illustrations are made in a style typical of 20th-century French postal engraving, alternating portraits, historical scenes, vehicles, and architectural elements. The mentions "POSTES" and "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" are systematically present on each stamp, guaranteeing their authenticity of French postal origin.
The presentation in the photo allows for clear viewing of each stamp's details, with no major defects reported on the visible sides. The stamps generally appear to be well-preserved, with vibrant colors and sharp impressions on the front.
