Description

This decorative bronze medal depicts a scene inspired by Roman Antiquity, with a chariot pulled by four horses and a standing charioteer, whip in hand. The medal has a brilliant golden finish, highlighted by a clear relief effect across the entire visible surface. The edge of the medallion is adorned with a regular beaded rim that frames the central scene.

In the upper part of the medal, two letters ("DF") are engraved, while at the bottom, the Latin inscription "ANNO GVIIIC XXI" is clearly visible. This mention evokes a neoclassical style, frequently used for commemorative or decorative objects of antique inspiration. The integrated suspension ring on the medal allows it to be easily hung, whether for wall display or on a stand.

The reverse is not visible in the photo, so the description focuses exclusively on the front side. The medal has a homogeneous patina, with some golden reflections visible depending on the light's orientation. No major defects are observable: the surface retains a smooth and neat appearance, without scratches or apparent chips on the visible part. The chariot scene, typical of Roman iconography, is finely crafted, with each horse and detail of the driver being well-defined.

The object is presented on a wooden box with gold decoration, which highlights the contrast between the shiny bronze of the medal and the more matte and elaborate background of the stand. The finishes of the medallion, as well as the presence of the ring, suggest a piece intended for decoration or commemoration, rather than monetary use. No modern vintage or manufacturer's mark is legible on the presented side.

The general style of the medal, its iconography, and its Latin inscription are part of the tradition of Roman-inspired objects, often produced for decorative or commemorative purposes, referencing historical figures such as Septimius Severus.
