Visual Description

This Valtis mechanical watch dial, "Rubis Extra" model, features an aesthetic typical of mid-20th century watchmaking. The visible dial is round with a gilded, guilloche-patterned finish, offering a wavy and refined visual effect. The raised, gilded Arabic numerals are clearly visible at positions 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, while the remaining hour markers are indicated by gilded appliques. The "VALTIS" logo surmounted by a crown and the inscription "RUBIS EXTRA" are clearly marked in the center of the dial.

The visible dauphine-style hands are also gilded and show signs of oxidation and wear. A small seconds sub-dial is located at 6 o'clock, graduated in 15-second intervals, with a corresponding small hand. The winding crown, located on the right, has a fluted finish and a copper or brass hue, with significant wear. The perimeter of the dial reveals a guilloche-patterned bezel, showing pronounced patination and traces of oxidation or corrosion, mainly around the outer edge.

This watch module is presented without a case or strap, partially exposing the mechanism around the periphery. The dial surface shows signs of wear, including stains and marks related to its age and previous use.

The dial is showcased on a presentation cushion, highlighting its decorative aspect and its appeal for watch restoration or use as a spare part. No other mechanical components (crystal, case back, lugs) are visible in the provided photo.

Condition

Used item, sold as-is for restoration or as a spare part. Shows visible wear, oxidation, and patination over the entire surface, as well as marks on the dial and bezel. Ideal for a repair project or to complete a compatible watch movement.

Did you know? The Valtis brand, uncommon today, produced ruby-jeweled mechanical watches during the first half and mid-20th century. Guilloche-patterned dials were prized for their wear resistance and elegance, a technique that emerged in Swiss and French watchmaking from the late 19th century.
