Description

This archival document is an old handwritten map depicting a portion of the Pharo sector in Marseille, likely created between 1930 and 1940. Presented on a large cream-colored sheet, the map is drawn in blue ink with an area colored in pink, indicating "Emplacement Area 2165 m²" and mentioning "Charleux Marchand Marseille" in the center of the highlighted zone. The overall drawing displays a technical cartography typical of hydraulic development or public works plans from that era.

Key visible elements include the title "Anse du Pharo" at the center of the map, the mention "Jardin du Pharo" on the left, and a curved line representing the "Limite du Domaine Public Maritime" at the bottom of the document. Several buildings, roads, and structures are sketched, reflecting the urban and port organization of the sector. The orientation is indicated by a handwritten compass rose, with the "Nord" direction clearly marked.

The map is distinguished by its precise annotations and period graphic style, with a scale mentioned at the bottom right: "Échelle 1/500e". The handwritten typography, the use of blue ink, and the pink highlighting reinforce the technical and administrative nature of this document. The entire piece is presented unfolded on a sculpted wooden support, accentuating its antique appearance.

The sheet shows prominent folds, typical of an archival document that has been regularly handled or stored folded. No text appears on the reverse side or on the non-visible margins. The paper displays a slight uniform patina, a sign of natural aging without any significant apparent alteration on the exposed side.

This type of technical plan, related to public works and hydraulic development, is characteristic of French administrative productions from the early to mid-20th century. It is an authentic piece, ideal for historical documentation on Marseille or port urban planning projects in the Pharo area.

Condition

Second-hand item sold as is. The map shows visible archival folds, a homogeneous patina, and some signs of wear related to its age. No obvious missing parts or tears on the visible side.
