Description
Superb statue depicting a Chinese dragon, made of bronze according to the keywords provided. The sculpture features a sinuous and dynamic form, characteristic of traditional East Asian dragon representations. The dragon stands on its hind legs, with its mouth wide open, revealing detailed teeth and a sculpted tongue. The scales are finely carved along the entire length of the body, with a pronounced dorsal crest and clawed paws in motion.
The visible patina on the bronze surface reveals shades ranging from verdigris to dark brown, giving the piece an authentic appearance and remarkable visual depth. Several relief details, such as the undulating whiskers, curved horns, and the typical beard of imperial dragons, highlight the quality of the craftsmanship. The prominent eyes and flared nostrils enhance the intensity of the dragon's expression. The stylized cloud motifs at the base of the body add to the traditional aesthetic and symbolism of the object.
The statue rests on its hind legs, with one of the front claws raised, accentuating the impression of movement and power. The finish shows natural wear and some traces of oxidation, mainly visible on the raised areas, which attests to an ancient patina and contributes to the authenticity of the piece.
The surrounding decor, composed of shelves of ancient books, highlights the decorative and prestigious character of this sculpture. No markings, inscriptions, or signatures are visible on the displayed side.

Did you know? The Chinese dragon, or "long," is a major symbol in Asian culture, associated with imperial power, luck, and protection. Unlike Western dragons, it is traditionally considered benevolent and a bearer of prosperity. Dragon statues were frequently used in the decoration of palaces and temples as early as the Han dynasty.
