Description
Illustrated philatelic letter, featuring a vertical block of five French stamps issued for Stamp Day 1991. Each stamp displays a stylized illustration in vivid colors depicting a mail sorting scene, predominantly in blue, red, and yellow, with the inscription "JOURNÉE DU TIMBRE 1991". The stamps bear the face value "2.50 + 0.60" and are aligned on the left side of the support.
On the lower right part of the document is a color printed illustration of a mail sorting scene, signed "H. Lavergne". A postal worker is depicted handling mail in front of a sorting machine, against a background of typical postal furniture in orange, grey, and white hues. Below the illustration, it reads "Le Tri Postal".
The whole is presented on a white card support, with the heading "1er JOUR D'ÉMISSION JOURNÉE DU TIMBRE 1991" printed in blue. The stamps are canceled with a legible black round postmark, bearing the inscription "JOURNÉE DU TIMBRE 16 MARS 1991 LA CIOTAT", which confirms first day of issue usage.
At the bottom left, there is the handwritten inscription "le tri postal" as well as the "LA POSTE" logo on a yellow background. The support shows no other visible text or pattern on the back or other sides.
This type of philatelic document, called "first day cover" or "FDC", is prized for its period illustration and official commemorative postmark, both clearly visible on the presented face.
