Description
This lot includes a selection of used French stamps, all illustrated with regional coats of arms and blazons. Presented on an album page under a transparent strip, these stamps feature various heraldic motifs: lilies, lions, crosses, eagles, chevrons, bands, and other distinctive symbols of French provinces and cities. Vibrant colors dominate, with a prevalence of blue, red, yellow, gold, white, and black, each stamp highlighting the visual codes of traditional heraldry. The inscriptions "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and "POSTES" are clearly visible on most specimens, confirming their official postal origin.

The stamps are rectangular in shape, some with a characteristic serrated edge. Several face values are observable, ranging from 0.05 to 2 francs and beyond, indicating different issues and periods of use. The visible cancellations vary in intensity, some partially covering the motifs, others remaining discreet. The variety of coats of arms allows for the identification of numerous French cities and regions, such as Lyon, Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg, or Brittany, whose blazons are well represented.

There are both predominantly monochrome stamps and multi-colored ones, the palette used reinforcing the regional identity of each coat of arms. Some stamps display stylized motifs of fleurs-de-lis, Savoy crosses, rampant lions, or diagonal bands, typical of 20th-century French heraldic art. Several specimens bear value mentions in centimes or francs, sometimes accompanied by "POSTES FRANÇAISES" or "ZONE FRANÇAISE".

The grouped presentation on the page highlights the diversity of the "blazons" series, ideal for appreciating the iconographic richness and variety of French philatelic issues. The overall collection shows a generally good condition for used stamps, with traces of postal use and appropriate album storage. No stamp appears to have major tears or obvious visual defects on the exposed side.

Condition
Used items, canceled stamps sold as is. Presence of postal cancellations, corners or edges sometimes marked by use, overall in good used condition for album presentation.

Did you know? The "blazons" stamp series in France, initiated in the 1940s, celebrates the coats of arms of the main French cities, provinces, and regions. Each heraldic motif adheres to a graphic tradition codified since the Middle Ages, allowing for immediate identification of the geographical origin and history of the represented territories.
